Flooding In Ipswich

Bremer River at West Ipswich looking towards One Mile. The new bridge they said wouldn't flood was under 4.1m......
This is our Coles store in Ipswich between Brisbane St and Limestone Street at the bottom of town. The water covered four streets away from the river and about 10 blocks.
This is the drain outside my work that usually is about 40cm wide and basically dry. It feeds back into the Bremer River at the One Mile stretch. It spreads way back to Warwick Rd that is flooded over by about 7m and our business backyard with all our machinery.

Just sharing a few photos as promised. These don't really show how bad things are here. This morning the main bridge in town was closed to most traffic because they were afraid it was to unstable. The flood reached 19.4m this arvo at 3pm. and has dropped slightly now at 11.30pm, only about 5m under the bridge. This is huge and we hope it doesn't stay there very long. The floods have really devastated my town again. It will take awhile to rebuild and restore it back to beautiful.

Back with more tomorrow

Sorry back soon with some amazing pictures of flooding in Ipswich, Queensland. My house has been saved but the business is still on flood watch....they say it will peck higher tonight....not sure yet.

I was only 81/2 years old when the dreaded 1974 flood was here and I thought I would never see this again in my lifetime....WOW!!! how wrong could I be. My girls are just astonished at the amount of water that is around in our CBD.
We have had about 3 hours sleep all night on flood watch....we worked till about 8pm to get the business office cleared in case of flooding but we haven't slept much because the water just keeps coming higher. The main Bremer River thru Ipswich is now at 19.15m. Last Saturday it was 2.5m....not bad hey......

Back soon with some pics.....We have been testing out the new camera I got for Xmas.

Keeping my feet dry...

Everyone who has been here before knows that I LOVE Connie Tumm's frames. So this year I decided to complete a Christmas one for myself. The frame is 30cm x 30cm wooden one from Spotlight and the squares are 5cm x 5cm, the two rectangles are 11cm x 5cm.

All the stamps are from Stampin'Up, some old ones and some new.
Cardstock and inks: Old olive, Cherry cobbler, Marina mist, Whisper white
DSP papers, rub ons, brads, rhinestones, silver cord, dazzling diamonds, silver hodgepodge
Punches, paper piercing tool, crimper

My darling friends came over to make one too, and everyone added their own personal touches to their frames. It was lots of fun.

Just a little update... Tyler James was born on 14 December 2010 to my cousin Michael and Tammy. Just sharing the nappy cake I made for him. Hope you like it. This time I added some wire loops to hold the disc's out from the cake. All Stampin'Up products were used.

Congratulations to Tammy & Michael
